deWildt discusses joining the WAVES in 1943, training at Iowa State Teachers College, and Aviation Mechanics School, Memphis, TN, her assignment as an Aviation Mechanics Mate in Memphis, TN, NAS, Livermore, CA, on flight crew line and tower work, NAS, Otumna, Iowa, on the ground crew; VJ Day, and discharge in November of 1945.

deildt was born in Hibbing, MN in 1920 and graduated from Duluth State College. She taught in a high school before joining the WAVES. Once discharged she settled in Rhode Island, received an MLS from the Univeristy of Rhode Island and taught in Narragansett, RI. Part of the WAVES in WWII Oral History project.
